Google is preparing YouTube to take on Twitch later in 2015 year with a “YouTube Live” service, according to reports.

The Daily Dot, citing those wonderful unnamed sources say that Google has assembled a team of up to 50 engineers with experience in the streaming sector to back and build the project from scratch, and is set to debut the new service at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in June.

It’s also no secret that Google has wanted to enter the live game streaming space for some time. The company was rumoured to be in the running to purchase Twitch back in May of last year – to the point at which rumours said they had purchased the company only find out that Amazon had beaten Google to the punch, eventually snapping up the company for $1 Billion. This renewed push into the arena would make sense for YouTube which hasn’t seen much success in this area.

Of course, rumours are rumours – we’ll have to wait and see whether anything is announced when E3 rolls around in June.

Would you stream your game live on YouTube, or stick to Twitch or any other services? Tell us in the comments!
