Motorola
Motorola has an event next week, where they expect to change our relationship status. We’re expecting to see a number of phones announced at the event, including a new Moto X, Moto G and a couple of regional ‘Droid’ variants for US carrier Verizon. The Moto G 2015 (gen 3, whatever), has been leaking for a while and now Mobile Syrup have gotten their hands on pics of the phone and there’s an interesting little tidbit regarding waterproofing.

Motorola phones have always been quite resistant to ingress from liquids, from the Motorola Razr M handsets launched years ago, they carried a nano-coating on their internals which made them essentially ‘splash proof’ if not a little more hardy when circumstances called for it, but it’s never been formalised. According to these pictures though, the Moto G 2015 will have an IPx7 waterproof rating.

The IPx7 rating gives us a waterproof, or more accurately a water resistance rating for immersion of the device at up to depths of 1 metre, with tests lasting for 30 minutes. The ‘x’ part is saved for dust protection, with the x indicating that no formal rating has been gained for the phone.

The leak also confirms earlier reports of a quad-core processor and a 13MP rear camera, with a 5MP front-facing camera on the rear. The photo also talks of a 2,479mAh battery, and confirms a microSD card slot will be present inside the handset to expand the internal storage.

The Motorola event is due to take place on the 28th of July at 11pm, with a live-stream of the event which will take place in London, New York and Sao Paulo. Join in and check out what Motorola have to offer from this latest event.
