It seems Samsung has been working on new models in its Galaxy C series, being the series original considered to be targeted to the Chinese market. This might not be the case anymore, with the the C9 Pro and its non-pro sibling, the C9, making appearances both publicly and through TENAA.

Based on the photos, it seems Samsung has gone with a completely new antenna design. We’re accustomed to antennae being in the top and bottom of the rear of smartphones, though there are exceptions like the HTC 10, iPhone and the new Pixel phones which have antenna bands standing out in the edges of the phone.

The Galaxy C9 Pro changes this. Samsung claims the antenna design represents the “next level of antenna craftsmanship”. This includes an all metal design and incorporating the antenna design where other have tried but not quite come close.

The photos have been leaked thank to multiple sources which include Steven Hemmerstoffer who works with both NoWhereElse.fr and Onleaks as well as GalaxyClub.cn as well:

In short really, what Samsung is trying to achieve with the Galaxy C9 Pro (and the non-pro sibling, the Galaxy C9) is a design that both accommodates metal smartphones and antenna bands simultaneously without the need to “hide” what some see as a disruption to good design in the name of practicality.

That said and all, we don’t know yet what the C9 Pro is offering spec wise but what we do know is that its non-pro sibling, the Galaxy C9 will have a 6-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080p) screen resolution, 6GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 SoC, and feature 16MP front and back cameras.

It is fair to say that this is what the Galaxy C9 could also be packing, but we will have to wait and see what Samsung do eventually announce, although no time frames where given.
