The upcoming Galaxy Note 8 will of course be ready for the Samsung Gear VR, but it will also be able to support all the Google Daydream apps you want to try out as well.

A spokesman for Samsung has confirmed to Dutch site, NieuweMobiel that the Galaxy Note 8 will support Daydream at launch. This means you’ll be able to take it out, slot it into your preferred DayDream View headset and go.

This change in attitude to Daydream is a welcome one for those who either prefer Daydream, or just want access to both the popular VR platforms – all you need are Gear VR and Daydream View headsets. The Gear VR for the Note 8 is not quite up on the Samsung website as yet, but the unit with controller sells for around $159, while the Daydream View with controller sells for $119 from the Google Store online.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will launch in Australia on September 22nd, you can see all the various plans available in Australia right here.

We’ll be hopefully getting hands-on time with the Note 8 very soon at the Australian launch, with a review to follow soon after.
