After previously announcing their high-end Google Assistant speaker would go on-sale in this month, Google has today taken the wraps off the details of the launch announcing the speaker will be available from the 9th of August for $549.

The Home Max will be available in both Charcoal and Chalk colour options through the Australian Google Store online where you can currently be notified when it goes on-sale, or through retailers including The Good Guys, Officeworks, Harvey Norman, David Jones and JB Hi-Fi.

Home Max is the largest Google Assistant enabled speaker Google has released to date, Google custom sourced and designed every part of the speaker which incorporates two 4.5-inch high-excursion woofers and two 0.7-inch tweeters which Google says is 20 times louder than Google Home. The fabric covering the speakers is acoustically transparent to ensure there’s no barrier between you and the sound.

Home Max, like the Google Home and Home Mini brings you easy access to all of the smarts of Google Assistant allowing you to control over 5,000 smart home devices, answer questions, sync with the many Google Assistant apps available and of course stream music from Google Play Music/YouTube Music, Spotify, Pandora and many more services.

The speaker will easily slip into your existing Google Home multi-room audio setup, or for those with a more expansive budget, Google Home Max can be paired into a wireless stereo format with wireless stereo pairing. Google Home Max supports wireless streaming of music through both Casting via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, but you can also plug in any audio device using the included 3.5mm jack.

Google Home Max also features a Google AI powered function called ‘Smart Sound’ which uses six on-device microphones to build a model of the environment and paired with AI can automatically adapt itself based on where it’s placed in the room, to give you better quality sound.

Google Home Max can sit either vertically or horizontally on your shelf, a magnetic rubber pad which attaches to the base of the unit separates the speaker from the surface beneath it and reduces rattle – as well as removing any potential to leave stains on your wooden furniture like a certain other premium speaker happened to do.

We’ve been impressed with the Google Home and Home Mini to date, with Google Assistant quite impressive in most aspects of performing all these functions. How will it translate to a large format speaker remains to be seen, but we’ll have a review up for you shortly.

I hope like heck that display was using worn out scratched like hell vinyl, because it looks like they have double-sided taped those records to the backdrop display.
You can see the tape through the translucent green records on the bottom row.
