Last week Arlo announced their new smart doorbell at CES 2019 and today they have announced that it is available here in Australia.

The Arlo Audio Doorbell and Arlo Chime work seamlessly together and are designed with simplicity and DIY in mind. The Audio Doorbell is exactly what its name suggests it is — it provides audio from the doorbell only but will pair with Arlo cameras and smart lights for a complete view of your doorstep.

The Audio Doorbell triggers an alert on your phone through the Arlo app which allows you to interact with the visitor through your smartphone. Using the app you can also see the person who hit the doorbell if you have an Arlo camera paired and situated nearby. The app also gives you the opportunity to also reply with a pre-recorded message should it be inconvenient to reply at the time.

The Arlo Audio Doorbell has a weather-resistant exterior and is totally wireless, running on two single AA batteries, designed to last up to a full year.

Along with the Arlo Audio Doorbell, Arlo have introduced their Arlo Chime which, as the name suggests, transmits alerts from the doorbell into your house, should you be without smartphone at the time. The Arlo Chime simply plugs into any power outlet and when paired with the Audio Doorbell can provide an “audible alert loud enough to serve as an 80+ decibel siren”. Silent mode can also be activated from the app for times when you do not want the doorbell to sound.

Brad Little, Vice President and Managing Director, Arlo Technologies, APAC, commented on the new device and the added security it can provide to the household:

Seamless remote, two-way communication via their smartphone ensures that whether a resident is travelling, at the office, or just in the backyard, they are able to easily communicate with guests. And because the Audio Doorbell integrates into an Arlo wire-free camera setup, users are able to truly round out their home security ecosystem for added peace of mind

The Arlo Audio Doorbell is now available for AU$129 and the Arlo Chime for AU$99 from authorised retailers around Australia. If you are already in the Arlo ecosystem and in the market for a smart doorbell then this is one you should definitely be looking at.
