Arlo have made some great cameras for quite a while and having reviewed them a fair bit here at Ausdroid over the years we can say we have been impressed with their offerings. The main sticking point we have found with them (and nearly every one of their competitors) was their resolution wasn’t great. Today Arlo have addressed this again with the launch of their new Arlo Pro 3 security camera.

With the new Arlo Pro 3 Arlo are adding to their high resolution offering of the Arlo Ultra another camera that is more than 1080P. The new wireless Arlo Pro 3 offers a 2K resolution with HDR, colour night vision with integrated spotlight and a 160 degree wide-angled FOV.

The presence of a built-in siren which can be triggered automatically or manually from the Arlo app when motion is detected adds to the features of the camera. There is of course still the ability for 2-way audio rounding off a great feature list for the new camera.

The Pro 3 is wireless and weather resistant (heat, cold, rain or sun) and thus can be used indoors or out. For further integration there is Alexa and Google Assistant compatibility to display on your Alexa display or Home Hub.

The Pro 3 includes a new “Smart Hub” designed to securely manage network traffic to the camera while at the same time providing a longer battery life with a better Wi-Fi range and performance.

The Arlo Smart enables personalised notifications based on custom activity zones and cloud storage for video recordings up to 2K in resolution. All purchases of the Arlo Pro 3 come with a three month Arlo Smart trial which includes 30 day recording history in up to 2K resolution, advanced detection of people, packages, vehicles or animals and custom activity zones.

The Arlo Pro 3 camera systems with SmartHub will be available from leading Aussie electronic retailers from early October with the 2-camera system with SmartHub included available for $949RRP. Additional Pro 3 cameras start at $419RRP. For more information check out the Arlo website.

[UPDATE]

Arlo is always looking to provide customers with an improved smart home experience, and we are happy to share that Apple’s secure smart home platform, HomeKit, will be supported by Arlo Pro 3 Security Camera Systems with version VMB4540 SmartHubs at this time. Compatibility with other SmartHubs and base stations will be supported in the future.
