Aldi - 4K Media Player
Aldi is bringing back their 4K Android powered media streamer to stores this Saturday October the 15th, selling the Cocoon branded box for $79.99.

The box has previously been sold at Aldi a number of times proving popular for people who want to grab a media player without ordering online. The Cocoon branded box includes 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage with microSD card slot, 2x USB ports and HDMI port and either Wi-Fi or Ethernet network connections.

The box will apparently support 4K playback, though does seem to be a little under-powered and judging from reports from previous owners results are mixed on this front.

The box includes Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) installed, with Kodi (formerly XBMC) installed for streaming your archived media to your TV.

The existence of an $80 Android Streaming box screams out to players like Xiaomi that their US$69 Android TV box would be more than welcome here in Australia.

There’s other options around if you want to look, but for convenience Aldi stores will have this one in stock from the 15th of October.

Interesting box though it looks like the person who wrote the ad doesn’t know the difference between RAM / memory and storage..
