LG’s Watch Urbane caught our attention as one of the first high-end stylish Android Wear devices, and today LG’s taken the wraps off a second edition of the watch, this time with LTE connectivity in tow – a first for Android Wear.
Announced on the company’s Korean site, the watch has a sleek design with three physical buttons (the new buttons appear to be linked to contacts and apps) and black, white, blue, or brown straps.
Specs-wise, we’re looking at a slightly larger and higher resolution screen (480×480) and a larger capacity battery – presumably a necessary addition given the LTE connectivity on offer. It’s also IP67-rated and features Gorilla Glass 3 for better protection against the elements.
With its cellular connectivity, the watch can make and receive phone calls (likely leaning on Android Wear’s support for Bluetooth audio devices) and messages (likely using voice recognition). Android Wear hasn’t – despite rumours – officially added support for cellular connectivity yet, so this might be a case of an OEM letting some future developments out of the bag early, similar to what we saw last month with Huawei’s Watch listing iOS support.
There’s no indication of pricing or a launch date yet, but we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled.

Oh very keen for this to replace my LG G Watch R. Only thing is i’m not a fan of custom fit bands…
I do like the ability of using it as a phone even if my phone is no where in site. i wonder how that will work with Optus sim card – do they clone the card, or is it just a data sim i’ll need?
awesome…..LG doing it right….Wish Samsung had spent time on android wear rather wasting it on Tizen….so looks like we can accept calls from phone…but is it going to be same as phone no or a different no?
