The ramp up to the launch of the Asus Zenwatch 2 in Australia has begun, Asus began the tease on their Facebook page on the weekend and the Asus website has now been updated to remove the original Asus Zenwatch and list the Asus Zenwatch 2.

The new site lists the Zenwatch 2 in both the standard 1.63″ and smaller 1.45″ form factors, indicating that Asus intends to bring both models to Australia. The site says of the Zenwatch 2 sizes that the ‘ASUS ZenWatch 2 brings sophisticated style and powerful functionality to any wrist’.

Under the hood, there haven’t been many improvements at least to the SoC and RAM, though there has been small differences like Wi-Fi and upgraded Bluetooth, as well as a speaker included to take advantage of upcoming, as yet unannounced changes to Android Wear.

The Zenwatch 2 will come with either a 300mAh or 400mAh battery and will again use a magnetic pogo clip for charging. At the launch Asus advised the new Zenwatch would give up to a 2-day battery life and will also quickly charge getting a 50% charge out of just 36 minutes of charging.

The Zenwatch 2 site appears to list all the colour options for the watch including Silver, Gunmetal and Rose Gold for the case, as well as a selection of band offerings which will be available in Rubber, Leather and Metal.

Asus Australia have advised they don’t have any further information to share at this stage on launch timings, but if you’re in the market for a new Zenwatch, you shouldn’t have too long to wait.

    Any guesses on pricing?

The price in the US is $150. Convert that to Australian dollars and it is $210. Add the GST and it comes to $231.

Knowing Aus though I reckon it’ll be $250-300.
