Watchmaker Casio has announced their latest watch ahead of watch convention Baselworld which starts later this week, showing off the Pro Trek Smart WSD-F20S.

The Casio Pro Trek Smart WSD-F20S is a modified version of the Smart Outdoor Watch (2017 WSD-F20) which launched at CES earlier this year. The watch has almost the same specs, though with some subtle differences in the design such as a new black and blue look, with sapphire crystal & ion plating on the buttons, screws and buckle making them scratch resistant. The band has also apparently been given a semi-gloss finish, which should make it look good.

It’s a limited edition launch, with only 500 units being made that will begin being sold in June. The WSD-F20S will be sold in a specially designed box with a triangular lid, which Casio says ‘echoes the triangle motif used in the design of the watch and the user interfaces for its apps’.

The Casio Pro Trek Smart WSD-F20S has the same 1.32″ 320×300 resolution display with a steel body that will be running Android Wear 2.0, unfortunately Casio advised us at CES that the watch will not come with NFC, so no Android Pay on this watch. It’s a sports watch with water resistance up to 50 meters, and comes with three buttons – TOOL button, Power button, APP button – on the side.

Casio has so far not sold their Android Wear watches in Australia and they’ve so far not announced anything for our market. We’ll be following up with Casio Australia to find out if any new plans have been made for either watch.
