Nexus-5-for-Real-490x450
Google began rolling out the Android 5.0.1 update in early December, posting images to the Nexus factory images page, followed by rolling out OTA updates a day later. Notably missing was updates for the Nexus 5 and Nexus 6, though the Nexus 6 has now been added to the list. But no OTA updates have been seen so far, but this will be remedied shortly according to US carrier T-Mobile, who have updated their support pages for both the Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 to state the phones will begin receiving their OTA updates today.

The update will bring both phones from build Android 5.0 (LRX21O) to Android 5.0.1 (LRX22C). While the information comes from T-Mobile, the update itself should be fairly generic and will be sent out to all Nexus phones, although you may have to wait for your carrier to approve the update (if you’re on Telstra).

In terms of what’s new in the update, there’s not a huge amount, but you can see what’s changed in this changelog found over on Changelog.to thanks to Funky Android and a script written by JBQ.

If you see the update, let us know so we can share the OTA link with everyone.

Nexus phones are now on sale only at NexusPhoneDeals:com

Also on Telstra, had flashed the 5.0 update manually but receive 0.1 this morning OTA. Excellent!

On Telstra, Nexus 5 (bought from the Google Play Store). Got the 5.0.1 update this morning (Thursday 18 December 2014). Looks like it is rolling out with no restrictions from Telstra 🙂

Got my N5 OTA update today, updated the N7 about a week ago.

Brodie

Did you get your phone through Telstra or direct from Google?

Wayno

Direct from Google.

Lester D

I wonder if Telstra is blocking this update for us N5 users.

craigo

They are not. As long as you triggered the Lollipop download.

Lester D

I actually flashed the 5.0 image from Google. I didn’t update to 5.0 OTA.

But 5.0.1 appeared OTA this morning. Yay!

Brodie

In order to get 5, I had to take out my Telstra sim card and put in an Optus one as for some reason Telstra and holding up the update. Any idea if I’ll get the 5.0.1 update over the air or will I have to swap sims again?

We’ve asked – we’re waiting on comment. Stay Tuned

Just flashed this manually – not waiting for Telstra to release this sometime next year!

My nexus 5 screen has an intermittent but server screen scrolling issue since upgrading, any one else have this?

Jared Mayfield

No, but every now and then my home button stops working and can require upto 3 reboots to get it back.
