Google has today released their monthly security report, with April’s updated images and fixes containing the fixes available for both Pixel and Nexus devices.

The monthly security update is again split into two, with a 1st of April patch and 5th of April patch. The 1st of April patch contains a single Critical, six High and five moderate Common Vulnerability and Exposures IDs (CVE), while the April 5th patch contains seven Critical, 26 High and 14 moderate CVEs – as well as one tacked on Critical CVE for vulnerabilities in Qualcomm components.

The Google devices Images and OTA files page has been updated with images and files for most supported Nexus and Pixel devices, though an OTA will be pushed to these same supported devices in the next few days.:

Pixel:

  • Pixel: N2G47E/N2G47J(Deutsche Telekom)
  • Pixel XL: N2G47E/N2G47J(Deutsche Telekom)
  • Pixel C: N2G47D

Nexus:

  • Nexus 5X: N2G47F
  • Nexus 6: NBD92G (7.0.0), N6F26Y(7.1.1)
  • Nexus 6P: N2G47H
  • Nexus 9 (Wi-Fi): N4F26X
  • Nexus 9 (LTE): N4F26X
  • Nexus Player: N2G47H

That’s it for another month, Google reports that they have had no reports of active customer exploitation or abuse of these newly reported issues, so get patched and all should be well.

Is Telstra holding back the 7.1.2 update? Haven’t got anything when I check for updates on my Nexus 5X when using my Telstra SIM.

I don’t have any spare nano SIMs available to test that theory.

EDIT: Yes I know this article is about the April security update but the 5X has had it and the 7.1.2 update bundled together.

good point. they did say it is “rolling out” so i’d say if you dont have it within a couple of days try it with a different sim…

I’ve got the OTA file ready to sideload manually should it be found that Telstra is indeed holding back 7.1.2 for the 5X.

Just wondering if anyone else has this problem? Got the update this morning for my Nexus 5X and now Google Assistant is no longer working. Tried going to US English but no luck. Has anyone else had this issue?

    Dean Rosolen

I don’t know about Google Assistant not working but I have a couple of other questions regarding the update itself.
    1. Are you on Telstra?
    2. If you are, did you just pop an alternate SIM into your 5X or did the OTA come through normally?

    Darren

Hi Dean, I’m with Optus and the update came through as an OTA as normal.

I went to check for the security update and instead got an update to 7.1.2 for my Nexus 6P. Anyone else come across this ?
