The Xoom, despite selling well, fell short of expectations in sales. We reported in July that the Xoom 2 may hit Australian shores before Christmas and it seems that a “mystery” Motorola Tablet which matches the specs leaked not long ago had just passed through the FCC in America.

Despite the fact that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 has been killed in Australia thanks to Apple, it also adds clarity to the rumour of Motorola pushing the Xoom very hard through Optus, originally to ensure market share before the 10.1 hit. Now they’re making room for their own replacement device.

Wait, what? Samsung won’t be releasing the Tab 10.1 in Australia?

I’m liking the sounds of a IR Blaster in the product, but as a ex xoom owner, I won’t be rushing out anytime soon to buy one unless its been on a diet!
