Believe it or not, the Android Market has surpassed 10 billion application downloads since it opened its doors. To celebrate this achievement Google are selling 10 different application for the next 10 tens for $0.10 a pop — a fairly good investment for users if you ask me. The apps available for 10 cents today are:

  • Asphalt 6 HD
  • Color & Draw for Kids
  • Endomondo Sports Tracker Pro
  • Fieldrunners HD
  • Great Little War Game
  • Minecraft
  • Paper Camera
  • Sketchbook Mobile
  • Soundhound Infinity
  • Swiftkey X.

All of the applications are well known and very well made, so it’s not as if Google have chosen crappy apps at random. So go on, hit up the Android Market for these deals!

This is the right webpage for everyone who would like to find out about this topic. You realize so much its almost hard to argue with you (not that I personally would want to…HaHa). You certainly put a fresh spin on a topic which has been discussed for years. Great stuff, just excellent! http://androidmg.com

Coda

I can’t get any of them for 10 cents each.

Most of them are shown as 10 cents, but after selecting, it show the total amount as:

Asphalt 6 HD: $7.49
Color & Draw for Kids: $0.99
Endomondo Sports Tracker Pro: $3.96
Fieldrunners HD: $2.93
Great Little War Game: $2.88
Minecraft: $6.68
Paper Camera: $1.99
Sketchbook Mobile: $1.99
Soundhound Infinity: $5.49
Swiftkey X: $3.99

Did anyone buy it for 10 cents each?

Matt Booth

Looks like it changes each day, there are 10 different apps for 10c each today: https://market.android.com/details?id=apps_timed_promotion

Man, I hate the micro-transaction nature of purchasing apps from the Android Market: I will now have 6 transactions on my credit card for 10 cents each.  It would be great if they had an option to buy a block of credit in your ‘Google Checkout’ account, and then make the app purchases from that….

[MuffinMan]

It sure would! Pretty sure I managed to make my bank think I was scamming and it blocked payment on my second purchase.

Anonymous

Was thinking the same thing the other day

It would also stop my bank from thinking some sort of fraud or duplicate purchase is taking place and then disallowing any future 10cent purchases over the next couple of hours. Ugh. Let me throw $10 credit on the thing and be done with it.

Alternatively let me select 5 items then proceed to this new concept called a checkout 😛

Alex Gerontzos

come on power amp lol!

Thank you for the heads up! Can’t believe they are going to do 100 “good” apps. *Fingers crossed* they keep up the quality of today’s apps!

Carsten Bauer

Just bought Endomondo, Sketchup, SBM, Paper Camera and Swiftkey, oh and also Soundhound.. been runing a pirate copy of this for ages, so good to go legit and get the latest version of it 🙂

Question.. if Google are selling these for 10c each, does that mean the authors lose money, or does Google Reimburse them?

Anonymous

Google would be reimbursing, same as the Amazon FAOTD I’d presume?

Level380

LIES!!!
Amazon free app of the day is a scam, amazon doesn’t pay the devs for the app. Yes amazon SAID they would give 20% to the devs but they dont, they lied

Oh shit! That’s terrible for start up companies and small dev teams! MAYBE if you’re a big team looking for extra exposure it might work out but that’s just rubbish! I’ll be spreading work the best I can from now on! Thank you Level380!

Level380

Yep, amazon uses its muscle to force the devs into doing it for free if they want the app of the day ‘exposure’.

But of course the contract you sign with amazon means you can’t talk about it, hence no one knows about amazon dark little secret.

Shiftjelly broke that and its been confirmed by a few other devs that thats the way amazon is rolling atm.

BTW if you want a great pocket cast app, shift jelly one rocks!!

Alex Gerontzos

Asphalt 6 is not on the list in market.. other than that perfect opportunity yo buy great apps at a fraction of the price.

It’s on mine but I’m running the SGS2, maybe a compatibility reason it’s left out for you?

Alex Gerontzos

that could be the case… looks like my x10 isnt getting any younger..cant keep up with the dual cores lol

Level380

Na I have it on single core phone.

Try viewing from the web, it will tell you why it won’t with your phone

nevetsg

I got 2 before the CC went all fraud protection on me.

PatienceIsAVirtue

Slow down! Wait a couple of mins between app purchases and you will be sweet! 😛

kaisnowy

Dam mastercard fraud protection..can’t buy the apps lol

Aaron De Vries

hmm I haven’t got an Android phone right now (waiting for the Nexus on a plan), anyone know of a way to buy these apps with my google account to get them later? I get this message when I try –
“There are no Android phones associated with this account. Please sign in with a different account.”My dad does have a Galaxy S, would I be able to buy with his account and transfer them over later?Cheers anyone who can help me out

Level380

Can’t transfer applications between gmail accounts…….Basically the primary account of the phone is the one that needs to buy the apps.

Aaron De Vries

damn, looks like I’ll have to miss out on this one then

Matt

Sign into your dads Galaxy S with your account then you’ll be set.. though I guess he’ll lose some of his data?  Dunno.

Matt Booth

As said above, go to settings and add your google account to your dad’s phone. This will link the phone to your account. You can sign out straight after. Then go ahead and buy the apps from https://market.android.com/

Omegamon Bruce

You can have multiple accounts on the same devices without losing any data. You can also chose to sync only your apps, not any other details from your account to that devices.

Level380

*COUGH* What no credit!!?

Curt Liddell

Just bought minecraft :3
