One of the biggest pieces of news today was the slashing of the price of the Nexus 4 through Google Play by $100, leaving the 8GB Nexus 4 at just $249 and the 16GB Nexus 4 at $299 – Bargain. But for people who just purchased one from Google Play, you may be feeling a little upset right now. The good news? Google Play has price protection.

The price guarantee applies to people who purchased an 8GB or 16GB Nexus 4, 15 days before the price reduction came into effect. Simply head across to the Price Protection webpage and fill in the details of your order, you’ll need your Order #, Assett # and the date you purchased your phone.

If you did actually purchase your Nexus 4 from Harvey Norman, according to their price guarantee it appears that you have seven days to contact your local store to discuss price matching with Google Play. Best to read the full terms and conditions but it does seem quite straight forward, but bear in mind that they will take into account shipping costs from Google Play.

Now, if all that fails and you purchased your Nexus 4 on a credit card; it’s worth speaking to your bank with regards to seeing if there is some measure of price protection built in to your Credit Card. It may not be available, but could be worth a shot.

The $100 discount makes an already attractive phone an insanely good proposition, if you’re in the market and you haven’t considered a Nexus 4, head over to Google Play and check out the Nexus 4.

From the Hardly Normal price guarantee page linked in this article:

“6. The Best Price Guarantee does not apply where:

    (a) the competitor has an online store only, and does not have a physical retail store in Australia;”

Would be worth trying anyway, worst they can do is say no.

Apple store is one month I remembered.

Never trust Google again, Nexus 7 is still not available in Australia, but available in all other seven countries.

There will be a hint that the new nexus phone in Australia will be also delay delay maybe next year.
