screen-shot-2014-01-15-at-5-38-34-pmCyanogenMod, the popular custom ROM of choice for many Android users looking for something a bit different than what their handset came with, has now released its Installer app for Mac OS X. Previously only available on the Windows platform, the Installer has come across to the Mac platform, allowing Mac users that simple couple-of-clicks-to-install functionality.

Apart from the platform, and perhaps looking a little nicer because it’s Mac, the installer does the same thing on Mac as it does on Windows.

For those unfamiliar, the CyanogenMod custom ROM runs on a long list of devices, including today’s popular market leaders such as the Samsung Galaxy S4. A full list of supported devices is available here for those who’re keen.

If you want to get in on the Mac OS X version, there’s a few simple steps to follow:

  • Join the CyanogenMod Installer for Mac beta group on Google+
  • Download the installer app from the Google+ community page
  • Connect a compatible Android device, and
  • Follow the instructions!

For anyone wanting to know a bit more about what’s involved, check out Phil’s walkthrough, and be warned, the Installer does wipe everything on your device, so make sure you’ve backed up anything important first!
