One of the surprise announcements (though it was rumoured and leaked a bit) at Google I/O 2014 earlier this morning was Samsung’s Gear Live. In the form factor of the Gear 2 Neo, but running Android Wear, the Gear Live certainly looks to be an impressive piece.

Fortunately for the Android community at large, Brent Rose from Gizmodo is at I/O, and has taken a closer look in photos at the Gear Live for us all. Please go give them a page-view, but we’ve got the photos and a bit of info here for you to enjoy.

Brent writes that the hardware feels nice and solid, and certainly from looking at it, it’s the Gear 2 Neo with different software and nothing terribly different. Featuring an IP67 rating, swimming probably won’t be a great idea, but washing your hands and taking a shower will probably be just fine.

Battery life is expected to be around a day, which is a little sad, but frankly an always-on device like this, with such a small battery, just isn’t going to last days on end like a Pebble might.

More details about the Gear Live will be coming in another post, but expect to see them available soon for $200 US, shipping in a couple of weeks.
