AOSP - Lollipop for Xperia Z1-Z2-Z3
Sony has established their commitment to developing AOSP ROMs for their phones over the last couple of years, building and maintaining repositories for the vast majority of their handsets on GitHub. With the push of the Android 5.0 code to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), today, Sony has shown off AOSP builds on the Xperia Z1, Z2 and Z3.

The video is fairly basic, showing off Lollipop on the phones, and Sony is quick to point out via a written warning over the top of the video, that the AOSP builds are not supposed to be considered daily drivers. Nevertheless, the Xperia Z3 looks darn fine running the AOSP build.

Sony is working to provide updated binaries for the phones, so developers can get the builds working on their unlocked handsets. Sony has provided device configurations for Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z2 already and is looking to make them available for the Xperia Z3 as soon as possible. All the latest updates, including source code for AOSP device configurations will be available on the Sonyxperiadev GitHub soon.

You can find more information on AOSP for the Xperia handsets in the AOSP for Sony Handsets section of the Developer.SonyMobile.com site.
