After a long wait, Google has today announced that the LG G Watch R is now available for purchase on Google Play and as a bonus, it’s live in the Australian Google Play Store.
The Watch has been listed in the devices section in Black only for $349, a small step above the US price of US$299. The G Watch R will ship from Google Play in 1-2 Business days and there’s only one shipping option available: International Priority for an additional $19.95, which should deliver the watch to your door in 2-7 business days. The G Watch R is of course the first Android Wear watch to make full use of the circular display.
The G Watch R comes with a Charging Cradle, Travel Adaptor and Data USB Cable in the box, as well as the G Watch R, which has what’s been seen as a fairly standard hardware listing, including :
- 1.2GHz Qualcomm® Snapdragon 400
- 1.3-inch P-OLED Display (320 x 320)
- 4GB eMMC / 512MB RAM
- 410mAh
- Android Wear – compatible with smartphones running Android 4.3 and above
- 9-Axis (Gyro/ Accelerometer/ Compass), Barometer, PPG
- Black
- Dust and Water Resistant (IP67)
The G Watch R is only available on Google Play in Australia, Japan and the United States, so it’s fairly limited. We’re expecting word from LG Australia later this morning on retail availability of the G Watch R and we’ll definitely be getting one in for review, so stay tuned for that.

Ordered from Play Store immediately after noticing, tried to cancel the order a few hours later and couldn’t. Tonight its marked as shipped. Oh well, guess I’m giving up on the Moto 360 then. I wish I had known it would be in stores too, could have picked the G Watch R tomorrow.
I also bought mine from MobileZap. Great service – delivered in 3 days. Got it yesterday and a couple of dollars cheaper than Google Play (who incidentally are quoting 5-7 days delivery).
I copped mine yday from mobilezap for a couple dollars cheaper. Dreamseller on eBay in Korea is nearly $20 cheaper but if I was buying today google play prob best for peace of mind
Decided to cancel my order. I’ll stick with my Gear Live. Anybody know how long it takes for Google to refund the money?
