This is not a test, the second Generation of the Ring Video doorbell is under an ACCC safety recall notification. While there are quite a few factors required in the potential for injury or fire, it’s still worth noting. As is the fact that if you’ve installed the device correctly there’s no issue!

The units at risk have been sold throughout the retail channels in Australia including the following stores: Bing Lee, Amazon Australia online, Bunnings, JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, The Good Guys, Officeworks and eBay Australia online

What’s the issue?

If the wrong screws are used to install the doorbell to the mounting bracket, the screws can damage the lithium battery. This damage has the potential to cause injury or risks a fire at your home or business.

What do you need to do?

If you’ve installed your doorbell correctly — as mentioned above — you don’t need to do anything, you’re not at risk. If you’re moving or installing your device for the first time, follow the instructions and use the provided mounting hardware.

If you’ve not used the correct screw and mounts or are experiencing issues: contact Ring LLC Customer Support on 1300 205 983 or 02 8294 9169.
