Motorola Turbo Charger
While we here in Australia are still waiting to receive the official Motorola Turbo Charger at all, even for customers who purchased a Nexus 6, Google has listed the Motorola Turbo Charger on Google Play in the US.

The Turbo Charger is listed for US$34.99 plus shipping, but we’re unfortunately seeing the usual message ‘Motorola Turbo Charger is not available in your country’. Interestingly, the product shots of the Turbo Charger actually include Australian plugs, indicating that the plug is very likely going to go on-sale on Google Play once Motorola works out the issues with the Australian electrical standards.

Specs for the plug itself offer :

  • Size: 56 x 46 x 50 mm
  • Weight: 64g
  • AC Input: 100-240 V
  • Output: 5V, 1.6A; 9V, 1.6A; 12V, 1.2A

The last update on availability of the Turbo Charger redemption offer, was from a conversation with a Motorola rep when taking them up on the redemption offer. They advised that the chargers could be out by the end of this month, however that’s not an official statement. We look forward to seeing the plug available in Nexus 6 boxes, as well on Google Play in the near future.

Have you ordered a Turbo Charger from somewhere else in the meantime?

GREAT!!! The best alternative to the Turbo charger I have found for my Nexus is is the 12W charger from my iPad air. I think it produces 2.1a? not sure but it charged my nexus from 15% to 100 in 1hour and 45mins.

I wonder if this will work with the Nexus 5? Qualcomms Quick Charge 2.0 is supported by Snapdragon 800 and up, hmmm. Probably only one way to find out…
