If you’ve been in the market for a cheap way to make your TV a little smarter, then the Android TV powered Vodafone TV set top box just got a whole lot more interesting with Vodafone dropping the price by 50%.

Though it started out priced at $120 outright, the box proved too popular with Vodafone increasing the price soon after launch to $144. It’s been reduced now though to just $72 which includes the remote control, and a fairly decently specced Android TV box with a DVB-T TV Tuner and on-board Ethernet to provide a better network connection in addition to dual-band Wi-Fi.

  • Quad-core 1.5 GHz Amlogic S905D
  • 2GB RAM
  • 8GB on-board storage
  • Dual band Wi-Fi, Ethernet, Bluetooth
  • DVB-T
  • Android TV 7.1.1

The box includes Android 7.1.1 out of the box, and we’re still waiting to hear if it will ever get an update to Oreo. Still, the box has seen updates since the launch with USB recording since enabled.

If you’re interested in seeing what Scott thought of the Vodafone TV box, you can check out his full review here. If you’re sold and just want to get one you can head over to the Vodafone website and grab one now.

Thanks for the great deal info Ausdroid ( thumbs up ). Went and picked one up for my parents and I reckon they are a good little Android TV box, not as good as my Nvidia but for the price they really are a bargain.

Is the ethernet 1 Gbps?

Melts

Amlogic S905D is fast ethernet. The new S905D2 has gigabit.

I wonder if this is a stock run out with a new model coming? Or just slow sales.
