Another entrant in the embedded AndroidTV market has entered the fray, with Toshiba launching their LED LCD Ultra High Definition televisions running Android TV at Harvey Norman, Domayne and Joyce Mayne.
The Pro Theatre U77 range consists of just two models, a 49″ and 55″ at this stage, but a 65″ model will be arriving in the coming months. The TVs feature the Ultra High Definition CEVO 4K engine for excellent picture. Toshiba says they include:
- Colour Re-master Pro system, which restores the colour of the original image as it was intended.
- Super Contrast Booster emphasises and maximises the depth of colour.
- Smart Noise Reduction, reduces TV picture noise through a 3D Noise filter and MPEG Noise Reduction.
- 10bit Mapping enables fine expression of images and smooth’s out the picture.
As well as great image quality, the U77 Pro range includes a front power speaker which utilises DTS TruSurround and Dolby Digital Plus. As expected of a SmartTV platform, the Toshiba range includes both Wi-Fi and an ethernet port, with a built-in DVB-T2 tuner.
Update:The Toshiba U77 Pro range currently runs Android TV 6.0.1 and if you love updates, you will find that their Australian distributor has plans to update the TVs through Android 9.0 (Android P?).
The three models making it to Australia include the 49″ (49U7750) with a recommended price of $1,299, the 55″ (55U7750) priced at $1,699 and the 65″ (65U7750) which will be priced when it launches.
You can get a look at the TVs, which have come down from those Recommended Retail Prices at Harvey Norman, Domayne or Joyce Mayne, with other retailers looking to stock the range soon.
Such a good job for Toshiba. Toshiba is one of the praised brands in TV.
They look really nice and good prices too but I’m surprised there’s no HDR support. I don’t think I buy a new TV without HDR as this seems to be the direction content is going
