Samsung’s J K Shin has confirmed that there will be a camera launched at the upcoming London event on the 20th of June. Going far enough in his statement to suggest that the camera will be a high end optics, Android powered device that will have interchangeable lenses as well as other features such as mirrorless image capture.
The Galaxy Camera NX is going to be a huge step forward for connected photography, as well as offering something that’s more powerful than the “point and shoot” options that Samsung have already in place.
While the existence of the camera is no longer a secret, the specs are not confirmed but rumoured to be
- Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean
- Samsung Exynos 4 Quad Core processor
- 2GB RAM
- 8 or 16GB onboard storage
- APS-C 20.3-megapixel sensor
- 4.8 inch HD display
- 1080p HD recording
- Interchangeable lenses inc 55 – 200mm (extra purchase likely)
So on appearances Samsung looking to merge the mobile and photography worlds into a truly connected experience.

Will there be an external microphone support? Huge difference in audio quality when using external microphones
Does it have a SD card? 16GB not going to get far with a camera like that.
While none of the specs I have seen suggest either way, you would hope so. I’ve actually been looking for this information today but haven’t found it yet. We’ll certainly be keeping our ears close to the ground leading up to the london event next week.
For a camera like that, the only question is whether it has SD, or Compact Flash?
