Australia’s Special Broadcasting Service News website has undergone an overhaul in the last week with a fresh new look, and to go with it their Android app has also gotten an update.
It’s not a new app, so if you’re one of the more than 100,000 users of the app, you’ll probably have already updated or be about to get updated to the new app. The app has several new features listed in the What’s New section:

– Browse, read and watch news in video
– Get instant breaking and daily news notifications that you can control
– Watch live streaming of news events and SBS World News bulletin
– Swipe through news articles for easier navigation
– Get SBS News social media updates from within the app
– Discover SBS network programs with a full TV guide

The big news, apart from the new look, is the updates that will notify you when breaking news happens. SBS has tailored these quite nicely, but you can also switch them off if you want to. Another major feature is the ability to watch news, including the SBS World News bulletin within the app.
