Sony has today announced a new Master Series of high-end TVs with promises of ‘unprecedented picture quality’ which will offer the very best picture quality available.

The 4K resolution displays will take advantage of both OLED and LCD technology – offering those with a preference for either technology a chance to experience the Master Series. The A9F is the OLED model and will be offered in both 65” and 55” models, while the Z9F utilises an LCD panel and will be offered in a 75″ model only.

The launch of the Master Series highlights Sony’s newly developed, next-generation Picture Processor: X1TM Ultimate which can ‘intelligently detect and analyse each object in the picture’ allowing them to be reproduced on the screen with greater accuracy and detail. Both panels support CalMAN’s professional-grade calibration software which is used by video production professionals all over the world.

The Master Series also brings a new Netflix Calibrated Mode which Sony developed in collaboration with Netflix ‘to mirror the same picture quality as a studio master monitor for television in order to preserve the artists’ creative vision and intent’.

The Z9F specifically will offer a premium viewing experience with X-Wide Angle which will ensure that you can view the display in magnificent quality no matter which angle the screen is viewed at. Their X-Wide Angle allows for wider viewing angles with reduced colour shifts so that the picture remains true to the Master Series vision.

It’s not just about picture quality with the A9F Master Series display, with Sony incorporating their Acoustic Surface technology they introduced last year with the Bravia OLED A1E panel which uses the space normally used for backlighting in an LCD panel for sound. The A9F will use the space to include an additional actuator in the centre of the screen as well as an extra subwoofer channel, which will see the A9F offer a 3.2 channel sound system.

The Sony Master Series panels will of course be utilising Android TV based on Android 8.0 Oreo as their smart tv platform. The latest version includes their hands-free Voice Search function thanks to built-in microphones on the TVs allowing you to simply speak to the TV to search and find what you want more quickly.

Sony hasn’t yet priced the A9F or Z9F Master Series, however they have advised they will be arriving in Australia in October.
