Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9 is one of the most expensive Android phones we’ve seen to date. Especially if you’re after the eyewatering 512GB model.
If you don’t quite want to part with at least 1,500 dollarydoos in one flew swipe of your credit card, you might want to consider getting your Note 9 on a plan. Note 9 plans aren’t exactly cheap either, but they sure are a lot more palatable. And hey, there’s still some pretty good deals on offer.
Note 9 plans with at least 10GB
One deal worth calling out explicitly is an Optus promo: $89 per month gets you a 128GB Note 9 on a 30GB plan. This plan also includes unlimited talk and text, an Optus Sport subscription, and data-free music streaming through Spotify and Google Play Music. You do however miss out on international talk and text inclusions.
Optus’ deal is probably the best value way to get a Note 9 right now, and the offer runs until September 13. You can’t get a 512GB Note 9 as part of this promo, however.
Vodafone’s Note 9 plans are mostly a no-frills affair, but you do have the option of changing your base plan once per month and can also leave whenever without a termination fee – you’ll just need to pay out the remainder of your Note 9. And of course, $5 per day international roaming makes Vodafone a good bet for frequent travellers.
Woolworths Mobile gives you Telstra network access without the Telstra premium, and plans includes a 12-month digital membership to the online version of the Entertainment Book. You are however looking at a smaller data inclusion than you’d get on Optus or Vodafone.
Telstra is unsurprisingly the most expensive option, but if you need more data and want to stick with Big T, spending $5 more per month will take you from 10GB to 30GB (for the 128GB Note 9). The pricier plan also includes 24 months of free access to a single Foxtel Now starter pack, which retail for between $10 and $15 per month. If you think you’ll get the value from Foxtel Now or just need more data, the $5 premium is worth considering.
It’s also worth noting that you can knock about $20 off your monthly bill with Vodafone and Woolworths Mobile by paying off your handset across 36 months, rather than 24.
Note 9 plans with at least 50GB
If you’re after a larger plan, $10 or so extra per month takes you from a Note 9 plan with a moderate amount of data to a Note 9 plan with an obnoxious download allowance. There’s not really much of an in-between anymore.
Both the Telstra and Vodafone plans here are free from excess data fees. You’ll have your network access speed slowed to 1.5Mbps after you go over your monthly allowance, but you can keep on using as much data as you want with no further charges. Optus doesn’t have a comparable offer, but with a 100GB data inclusion, you don’t probably don’t need to worry too much.
