One of the first things many of us do when we check our phones of a morning is check the weather. A new module on crowdfunding site IndieGoGo will now give you instant access to local weather data on your phone.

Called WeatherAtPoint BLE, the keychain sized Bluetooth weather station is the second generation device from MindLabSolution. Their first generation connected to your 3.5mm headphone jack on the phone, but with that jack now gone for most phones they’ve re-tooled and moved to a wireless solution.

The tiny module includes a number of sensors that measure temperature, humidity, UV, atmospheric pressure and ambient light and then display it on your Android or iOS phone. The data you collect can then be shared with other users around the world in the W@P Cloud database, which gives users everywhere a better idea of the weather in your area.

The campaign is already fully funded having reached their $15,000 goal already with two weeks still to go, and the company plans to begin shipping modules next year in March. The lowest price perk gets you a WeatherAtPoint BLE module and access to the app for $79, but the prices go up from there if you don’t get in quick. The
