OnePlus have had some great ideas in more recent times with their competitions and promotions involving their fans in many facets of their company. Now they want to involve fans in their OS feature set list.

OnePlus are a company that listen to their users and try to act upon many of the best ideas. Ever since their misstep early on when they admittedly got ahead of themselves and stopped listening to what their users wanted they have been going from strength to strength. Now they are inviting users and fans alike to propose ideas for their next feature set in OxygenOS.

Their new Product Manager Challenge (#PMChallenge) allows users to submit a PRD (product requirements document) answering a few specific questions which every single feature they want introduce must comply with:

  • Who are the users?
  • What is the proposed function?
  • What is the user value?
  • If there are existing comparable functions in the smartphone industry, how is your proposed feature superior?

OnePlus want you to “explain the logic” behind your idea and how it should be implemented with the inclusion of diagrams of each display showing the new feature.

Each entry will be scrutinised over its ability to contribute to a “burdenless experience”, how it will interact with other parts of the OS and what the user experience be like.

The winning feature will be announced mid-March, judged by senior members of the software team. When the feature is ready for release onto devices OnePlus will organise a launch event near the winner with a VIP experience for the winner. Of course the winner will receive the device that the feature will be installed on — can anyone say OnePlus 7?

If you have an idea get your creative juices flowing and start filling out your PRD. Entries should be submitted in the Tech section of the OnePlus forums where you can already see a few entries to help you make yours even better. Make sure you go and check out the Terms and Conditions before entering of course.

This could be one way to get OnePlus to bring their next flagship here so all you clever readers that we have here start on your entries now — we will all be grateful when you win.
