Twitter has launched a new Direct Message (DM) chatbot to help bring voters all the vital information they need before hitting the polls on May 18.

To access the new service, users need to follow the @TwitterAU user profile. The service can provide information on where you can vote, who the candidates are in your area, verifying and ensuring information is checked and accurate along with finding that all important democracy sausage.

The new chatbot comes as new Twitter research has found that a quarter of Australian Twitter users are not decided on who has their vote this weekend, and that the 18-21 year age bracket is the most receptive to a last-minute change of heart.

Twitter has also launched a new limited edition emoji for the election – the humble democracy sausage. To get the limited time edition emoji, you will just need tweet and use one of the following hashtags – #AusVotes #AusVotes2019 #AusVotes19 #DemocracySausage #SausageSizzle #Auspol.

You can also keep up-to-date with everything before and during Saturday’s election through the new chatbot, and also by following @TwitterAU and @MomentsAU for all the latest news as it happens
