We aren’t even up to a week before the Samsung Unpacked event on August 6 (AEST) and yet it feels like a Samsung type of day. Today we have seen a few leaks and the first cab off the rank is the leaked video showing the camera settings and more on the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.
The new video has been leaked by JimmyisPromo who has some form in leaking Samsung details in recent times. The video published on YouTube shows the settings within the camera app of the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra — the version expected to have the super dooper camera that arrived on the Galaxy S20 Ultra.
As you can see in the video above the settings detail the zoom will be just 50x with a possibility of 5x optical zoom — this is hardly surprising given how useless 100x Space Zoom was. There is support for 8K widescreen video recording though along with an ability to choose which microphone you want to use for sound recording: front, rear or external (connected via Bluetooth or USB-C).
Also, and a feature that is surprising to see is the presence of a Quick Settings tile for Google’s Nearby Sharing. This is the first indication of any manufacturer including it other than Google. It will be interesting to see, now that Samsung are onboard, given that they represent such a large segment of the market, how many other manufacturers include include Nearby Sharing as a priority. You will recall that many of the Chinese Android vendors have opted into their own alliance for a fast sharing technology — hopefully they make their compatible with nearby sharing as well.
Samsung look to be once again focusing their flagship device on the camera-centric users and we look forward to seeing what they bring to the party with it. Of course in hands tests are often more useful than promo videos and shots. We look forward to getting our hands on one and testing it out for you.
