HTC-One-Red1

There were rumours a while back of a red HTC One, which was said to be exclusive to Verizon Wireless in the US. It’s not unusual for one of the major US carriers to have a markedly different variant of a flagship device, especially considering the size of their user base – Verizon has over 100 million subscribers, compared with just under 15 million users of Telstra’s mobile services. It didn’t seem to pan out though, and Verizon have still not released any edition of HTC’s One.

Meanwhile, in the UK, online retailer Handtec has put up an order page for a red HTC One. It’s not unusual for a retailer to accidentally use the wrong stock image, but in this case, the product description and the page’s URL also refer to it being a red version. The device is unlocked, and sells for £419.99 (about $635) to those of us outside Europe (plus shipping). It’s listed as out of stock for the moment, but you can sign up to receive a notification when it is available.

I hope that the red edition of the HTC One is real. It would be a refreshing change from the silver, white and black that almost every other Android phone has available.

Would a red (or other coloured) HTC One entice you to buy it over a competitor’s phone? Let us know in the comments.

If you want a red one just send to anostyle to ask them do a red one for you , colour to me is not a problem as long is a phone .

I’d prefer a glossier brighter red, but that’s just me. I feel like it would “come out at you” more.

There was a red HTC Incredible S released some time before as well, so I’m not surprised HTC is continuing with Red.

I’m surprised more tech (and car companies) don’t offer custom colours, even if a long wait is part of the conditions. I’d wait a month if it meant I got a unique (or even uncommon) colour.

I think this is the sort of thing HTC needs to do to set themselves apart from the rest of the field. It might even create a “cult” following which will only lead to betters sales thus profits. If this Red HTC One is real, then I say well done to HTC.

Agreed. I would have loved to have seen HTC come out with the One in a range of bright colours like their Windows Phone series. That would have been amazing.
