With IFA Berlin 2016 about to start, we expect to see the announcements coming thick and fast from various electronics companies from all over the world. First to hit us up with some interesting tidbits are ZTE.
While not quite the household name in Australia (yet), ZTE have announced an operating revenue of around RMB47 billion (or around $9.3bn Australian dollars), nearly half of that from international markets, which represents a 56% year-on-year increase. Alongside the profit announcement, ZTE announced a new strategy to help businesses seize opportunities in the new emergence of the sharing economy through the use of peer-to-peer networks and cloud computing platforms and services. They have called this M-ICT 2.0. It is good to see ZTE looking to the future with a plan for targeting the “Internet of Everything” and “Cloudification”. Hopefully we will see some of this arrive on our shores sometime soon.
In other ZTE news the ZTE Axon 7 Mini was announced/revealed before ZTE had a chance to make it public themselves. Following on from the announcement of the impressive Axon 7, the Axon 7 Mini is a mid-range phone with a 5.2in 1080p AMOLED display with a metal body. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage space that appears to be expandable with microSD (yet to be confirmed). It has dual SIM support and a 2,705mAh battery. On the back there is a fingerprint scanner and a 13MP camera capable of 4K video recording. The front facing camera is 8MP. Unfortunately it is only running Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) with no word on any updates at this stage (but remember, ZTE haven’t actually announced this phone yet).
At the moment the phone is only available in Germany in silver and gold colours for €299. At this stage it is unknown if this phone will land on Australian shores but we have reached out to ZTE for more information. ZTE have indicated that they will be sending out official information in a couple of days when it is announced. Hopefully with the interest we have seen in the ZTE Axon 7 here in Australia we will see it and it’s little brother/sister side by side in our stores soon.
