HTC’s next mid-range device is expected to be the HTC Bolt, and thanks to prolific leaker @evleaks we have got our first look at the device. The Bolt is reminiscent of HTC’s 2016 flagship the HTC 10 with a similar angular design and all-metal unibody.
It is troubling that HTC have chosen to not include a 3.5mm headphone jack into the device, which looks clearly large enough to handle one. This could be a trial to see how the lack of a headphone jack affects sales or a sign of HTC’s future direction. We’re on record that we believe removing the headphones jack is anti-consumer and an industry trend we just don’t agree with.
Moving on from the headphone jack, the Bolt is rumoured to be 5.5″ with a FHD display, 3GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage and a MicroSD card. On the outside, it’s got a Fingerprint sensor (on the physical front home button), USB-C port, 18MP f/2.0 rear camera, 8MP front-facing camera and a single bottom firing speaker.
There’s no information on the processor it may be sporting, however for a mid-range device we’d expect something similar to the Snapdragon 652. The launch is anticipated sometime in October with global availability to follow.

I note there is no shot of the top of the phone. This is generally where HTC likes to place them. It makes no sense to leave the headphone jack off a mid-range device.
