We’ve been waiting for a few weeks for the ZTE Axon 7 to go on sale in Australia, and it seems that ZTE has quietly released the device onto the market via their site. The Australian variant of the Axon 7 is available to purchase now for $699 AUD.
Before you run out and buy a device, just know that it seems stock may be a little limited, and according to some, the devices may not be shipping as quickly as they would like. That said, if you can get your hands on an Axon 7 you may just get the best-valued smartphone (Android or otherwise) on the market.
As a bonus, if you grab an Axon 7 in Australia it will come with complimentary accidental damage insurance. Normally $300, the cover seems to give you an amount of “repair credits” to pay for any repairs that may be needed until either the 2-year warranty has expired or you use all of your ‘credit’.

We’ve been impressed with the Axon 7 since it was first announced back in May. It’s been a long wait to reach Australian availability so hopefully we get some hands-on time with a device soon and can bring you the full Ausdroid Review.

Is it single sim or dual sim? I am using the Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe now so probably not worthwhile for me as an upgrade right now anyway.

Dual sim but the micro SD card shares the sim 2 slot. Strangely, in China they are modding sims and micro SD cards together and they work so no loss of functionality.

I have received my pre-sale axon 7 and whilst there was an initial delay with the delivery ( a resolved issue between ZTE and the warehouse distributor ), the handset arrived within two days of dispatch ( regional QLD ). Whilst there are a few small bugs which will hopefully be resolved in the Jan/Feb Nougat update, they are easily fixed with using an alternative app ( eg. Do not disturb settings not working – but configurable with a DND app from the Playstore) and become a non issue. I am looking forward to the firmware update which will bring… Read more »

How’s the software experience, aside from that bug? I got a cheap Alcatel phone when I was overseas, and it’s been okay except I can’t seem to get some features like Google Now On Tap to work.
The software is all good so far. All of the software issues I was concerned about before purchase are resolved for me by using Nova launcher. If ure going to use their MI pop launcher, some people are having some gripes with it, but Novak been my go to launcher for years so haven’t even tried the other. The annoying notification bell on lock screen is still there, to be resolved with Nougat update. Hopefully they’ll continue with the regular software updates to support their flagship.
I also have a LG G3 and was tossing up between this and the G5 – after seeing the G5 dual Camera trounce all others (S7, iphone7plus), I ordered one for $549. Sure its only 32GB campared to Axon 7 64GB. But the price for G5 was hard to pass up.
