ZTE is making a play for the high-end smart phone market in perhaps the best way with well priced, well specced handsets like last years Axon 7. This year it looks like ZTE is going to continue that trend with an as yet unannounced handset heading past China’s regulatory commission TENAA.
The phone, which carries the model # A2018, is likely the next AXON series phone, with last years AXON 7 carrying the A2017 model #. What will be in the phone? There’s not much information in the TENAA filing, though we know it will have a quad-core processor, 4GB of RAM and a 3,320mAh battery inside. From the pictures supplied there will be a dual-camera and fingerprint sensor on the rear, with a 5.5″ QHD (2560 x 1440) resolution OLED display on the front.
The phone dimensions are available showing a phone slightly shorter and thinner than the Pixel XL. The phone measures 151.7 x 75 x 7.7mm and weighs in at 170grams.
Unfortunately it looks like the phone is running Android 6.0 (Marshmallow), so no Nougat for this phone at launch, though it may see an update down the track.
While there’s no information on when the phone will be announced, the Axon 7 was announced in May last year, so we may see it quite soon.
