After leaking yesterday ahead of the launch, Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy A9 with four rear camera sensors on-board covering the breadth of options for smartphone photography.
The Samsung Galaxy A-series phones have fast become a solid option for customers around the world, with the stylings such as the curved 3D Glass back which comes in three gorgeous colours: Caviar Black, Lemonade Blue and Bubblegum Pink (want!), as well as bringing higher end hardware normally associated with their flagship S-series.
In this case however, the Galaxy A-series is leading the charge with the introduction of four cameras, a 24MP main sensor with an f/1.7 aperture, as well as a 10MP camera with f/2.4 aperture and 2x Optical Zoom, an Ultra-Wide 8MP sensor with an f/2.4 aperture and 120° field of View and finally a 5MP depth sensing camera sensor with an f/2.2 aperture….oh, and there’s a 24MP front-facing camera.
The Galaxy A9 offers a lot in terms of hardware beyond the quadruple camera sensors, with a massive 6.3” Full HD+ (1080×2220) resolution Super AMOLED display on the front and powered by an octa-core (most likely an Exynos) processor and comes with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM (Depending on operators/region) with 128GB of on-board storage and a MicroSD Slot. You’ll also find a 3,800mAh battery on-board to power you through the day.

In terms of software, Samsung has slightly dropped the ball here with Android 8.0 (Oreo) which will obviously have their UI laid atop, and there’s been no word yet on any Android Pie updates for the phone.
Samsung has announced that the The Galaxy A9 will be available in selected markets from November with both Europe and the UK confirmed. We’ve reached out to Samsung Australia for any information about a launch here in Australia.
Anyone know if these will be available here?
Do the cameras have OIS?
Qualcomm 660 processor.
