HMD Global’s first Nokia branded Android Go phone, launched at Mobile World Congress last year, is set to get a follow-up with a Nokia 1 Plus render and specs leaking almost a month out from their expected press event at the show.
The Nokia 1 Plus as it’s being called isn’t guaranteed to be an Android Go (Pie Edition) phone, though it’s highly likely with the specs of the phone fitting with the lower end specs required for the platform.
According to pictures of specs and a render of the Nokia 1 Plus shared by Tiger Mobiles, the phone will be powerd by a quad-core Mediatek MT6739WW processor with 1GB of RAM and have a screen with 480×960 resolution. The phone will also include a dual nano-sim configuration popular in emerging markets where Android Go is intended to be used.
The render of the front of the phone shows that the entry level device will include a large bezel at the top and bottom of the display which includes a single front-facing camera and a fairly sizeable side bezel to boot.
Nokia released X-Press on Covers for the Nokia 1 last year, which allowed users to switch out the backplates with more colourful options, reminiscent of the early Nokia models from the companies heyday.
Though no event has been announced we’re very much expecting HMD Global to announce a new raft of mobile devices at Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona next month. We’ll be on the ground at MWC again this year and can’t wait to share some details on the phones they announce.
