Motorola has announced the launch of its latest edge series of devices, with the company launching 4 devices in total – the Edge 20 Fusion, Edge 20 and the Edge 20 Pro. All devices in the edge range come with 5G network capabilities and come with ultra slim designs at affordable prices. Each new Edge device has been equipped with Motorola’s new Ready For platform, consumers can take their smartphone beyond traditional boundaries by amplifying everyday experiences.
Motorola Edge 20 Pro

The Edge 20 Pro is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor with Adreno 650 GPU chipset, 12GB RAM and 256GB onboard storage which weirdly cannot be expanded. The remaining rear cameras are an 8MP 5x telephoto lens and a 16MP ultra-wide depth sensor. The front-facing camera is a single 32MP camera, so your Instagram selfies will really pop.

It’s powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 5G-B+ processor, with 6GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage which can be extended to 1TB via MicroSD card. Get Ready For new ways
Following suit of others in the field such as Apple, TCL and Huawei, Motorola’s new Ready For is the most flexible way to bring mobile games, TV shows and video calls to the big screen, sit anywhere in the room, and still use your phone to text friends, make a call, or do whatever you need to keep your day moving.
With the new Moto Edge 20 and Moto Edge 20 Pro can activate Ready For wirelessly and experience Ready For PC, which allows you to seamlessly switch between your Windows screen and smartphone so content, pictures and videos can be viewed and edited much easier than just hooking up and awaiting for all your content downloading to your PC. The software allows you to switch between your Windows screen and smartphone so content, pictures and videos can be viewed and edited simpler than ever, meaning there is no need to go back between your device or various screens.
Speaking at the launch of the new Motorola Edge devices, Kurt Bonnici, Head of Motorola ANZ stated that:
So much has changed in the world recently, so with the latest motorola edge family, it was important for us to bring consumers what they need most. Motorola has always worked to democratise cutting-edge technology to empower people in their daily lives. With this philosophy, these new devices go beyond the previous generation of edge in nearly every category to bring incredible new features at more accessible price points.
In addition, the smartphone is now more than just a communication tool. It is the hub for information, entertainment, productivity and content creation. Motorola’s new Ready For platform elevates these experiences to be more immersive and productive by putting the power in the consumer’s hands to realise the full potential of their device.
The Motorola Edge devices will be available soon, though no dates have been confirmed for the Edge 20 and Edge 20 Pro.
Does Moto not bother putting battery sizes in their press releases any more?
Any word on future updates on this new range? If they’re sticking to the subpar 1 major update and 3 month interval on security patches etc… this needs to be pointed out.
Samsung and some others are leading the way in updates while Motorola has been very poor recently. A phone like this could be a paperweight in the future while other phones will continue to get major OS and security updates.
Cheers
Hi GrKTcB,
We have reached out to Motorola regarding this and will update the post when we get the info.
Thanks,
Alex
Thanks Alex. Updates are a very important aspect when buying a new phone these days as we tend to keep them longer as they’re so darn fast and are capable of going years and years with the right software and security updates in years to come.
Mentioning the software path for a phone should be a given in a review and a new phone announcement and it’d be appreciated by your readers.
Thanks for checking that, looking forward to seeing what Motorola have to say.
Cheers
This is annoying.
While the Edge 20 Fusion ticks the boxes I am interested in for a phone, all that Lenovo are flogging here in Ausfailure, is the cheaper, low RAM version of the Edge 20 Fusion. Even India gets access to the 8Gb version of the Edge 20 Fusion.
Isn’t 6GB enough @JeniSkunk? (genuine question)
I do appreciate your frustration on the vendors offering different versions in different markets (why?) but I thought $499 5G phone for an OLED screen with a 144hz refresh rate sounds pretty reasonable?
Also just looked up that it has a side-mounted fingerprint reader which I prefer to the under display and much better than the rear-mounted ones.
It’s not a case of price to capability, or the Ausfailure Tax regional gouging that I was complaining of.
It’s that we only get the 6Gb RAM variant, and the 8Gb RAM version which we don’t get, the third world Indian market DOES get. A third world market gets the more powerful and capable device.
