Samsung has officially launched its own AI for its latest flagship smartphone with the Galaxy AI which the company has stated will bring a new era in Mobile AI.
Galaxy AI amplifies nearly every experience on the Galaxy S24 series, from enabling barrier-free communication with intelligent text and call translations, to maximising creative freedom with Galaxy’s ProVisual Engine, to setting a new standard for search that will change how Galaxy users discover the world around them.
Speaking at the launch of the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy AI at the unpacked event, TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile eXperience, Business at Samsung Electronics has stated:

Galaxy AI introduces meaningful intelligence aimed at enhancing every part of life, especially
the phone’s most fundamental role: communication, especially those When you need to communicate defying language barriers, this is where the Galaxy S24 series will shine with Galaxy AI.
Galaxy AI will enable S24 users to Live Translate two-way, real-time voice and text translations of phone calls within the native Samsung Phone app without the need for users to use or download third party apps.
There is also an Interpreter within Galaxy AI that instantly will translate on a split-screen view so people standing opposite each other can read a text transcription of what the other person has said. Samsung have also stated that Interpreter will also work without 4G/5G ow Wi-Fi connectivity.
Chat Assist within Galaxy AI will help perfect conversational tones to ensure communication sounds as it was intended: like a polite message to a co-worker or a short and catchy phrase for a social media captions. Samsung keyboard will also have Galaxy AI built into it and this translate messages, emails and more in real-time in 13 languages such, although it wasn’t confirmed what languages will be exactly available.
Note Assist in Samsung Notes, will enable AI- generated summaries, template creation that streamlines notes with pre-made formats, and cover creation to make notes easy to spot with a brief preview.
For voice recording, Samsung Ai also comes with Transcript Assist uses AI and Speech-to-Text technology to help transcribe, summarise and even translate recordings into select languages.
Circle to Search provides Galaxy users an incredible new tool that will enable users to up new forms of discovery with a simple gesture. By simply completing a long press on the home button, you can circle, highlight, scribble on, or tap virtually anything on Galaxy S24’s screen to see helpful, high-quality search results.
The ProVisual Engine enables and provides comprehensive suite of AI-powered tools that
transform image capturing abilities and maximise creative freedom every step of the way, from setting up a shot all the way to sharing it on social.
Galaxy AI editing tools enable users to make simple edits like object, reflection, and shadow eraser, re-compose, and remaster photos. There is also Edit Suggestion which uses AI to suggest tweaks for each photo alongside Generative Edit which can fill in parts of an image background with generative AI.
To be honest, AI for me is a bit mixed but I am also excited to see how Galaxy AI competes and enables users to get the most out of their phone.
