Boost Mobile has today launched its eSIM offering within Australia. In a tip of the hat to fear, uncertainty and doubt in the porting process, Boost has made it even easier to switch from the big three to its own plans.

“As an industry we have traditionally made it way too hard for people to port in and out. This is because having the ability to move in seconds, across multiple carriers and networks, is actually big telco’s worst fear! Putting up barriers between switching telco serves the company, not the consumer. eSIM changes the relationship consumers have with their telcos”

said Peter Adderton, Founder of Boost Mobile.

With the number of eSIM compatible devices (most mid-range to high end devices since 2022) on the market growing by the day, there’s not really any reason to avoid the technology any longer. eSIM adoption also makes it far easier for the financially astute users to chase the best deals, as it makes porting between carriers easier and faster than ever.

Adderton spoke of this as part of the eSIM launch for Boost Mobile:

“We are all about choice, great deals and putting the power back in the hands of consumers. We believe there are many Australians sitting on the fence, wanting to change telcos but are worried about how to do it, or concerned about losing their number. With eSIM there’s no need to put up with a below standard experience when the technology and innovation is there to easily move across to a telco that will work hard for you. Make us work for your business.”

Coinciding with the launch of eSIM, is the revamped Boost Mobile app; allowing users to take advantage of the technology.

The look is similar to the previous generation with a few tweaks to make navigation easier, and the acquisition of an eSIM very simple. A welcome change in my eyes, is the month to month comparison of data use which has prompted me (I spend most of my life on Wi-Fi these days) to think about saving money and reducing my monthly data allocation.
