Optus has been moving their interest into the realm of value added services of late, picking up rights for streaming the Cricket as well as the English Premier League (EPL) last year. Today Optus has unveiled plans for how customers will be able to stream the EPL, as well as a new cross-license deal with national broadcaster SBS that will see Optus stream all 64 World Cup 2018 matches.

The English Premier League deal, will see Optus offer customers multiple avenues to watch English Premier League matches played during the 2016/17 to 2018/19 seasons. Optus has been getting good results when it comes to video deliver, with Netflix naming Optus’ fixed broadband network as the best for prime-time streaming over the last six months; and Stan customers also saw the carrier named the fastest streaming experience for the last 5 months.

With a strong mobile and broadband infrstructure, Optus has listed multiple avenues for streaming the EPL action for Optus’ customers which will utilise this strengthened network.

So the question is… Will we be able to “cast” from the optus EPL app to a Chromecast?

God really hope A League does something for their broadcasting for next season becasue that’ll pretty much be the only thing I’d be watching on Foxtel. And I pretty much go to all of the home games anyway… :/
