Woolworths may not be the first place you think of when you’re looking for a new mobile phone or plan, but they want to be. Woolworths Mobile has today released a new range of postpaid mobile plans for those looking to enter a 24-month contract.
For those unfamiliar with Woolworths Mobile, they are a Telstra 3G & 4G reseller, offering both pre-paid and post-paid (contract) plans. For Woolworths reward members you receive rewards points for each dollar spent on plans and handset repayments.
As of today, you will be able to choose from a selection of Samsung handsets including, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy A3, with monthly payments for the Galaxy S7 starting at $33 per month ($68 with a $35 plan) on the smallest plan. If you sign up now for an S7 or S7 Edge you can get a bonus Gear VR.
Woolworths offer 3 plans, Small, Medium and Large, ranging from $35 to $70 per month. All plans include unlimited SMS to national numbers and come with Woolworths “Zero Bill Shock” guarantee. The Bill shock guarantee isn’t as good as it sounds they simply disable any voice or data service that has exceeded the monthly limit and offer you the option to buy more or wait for the next billing cycle. Still it’s better than an unexpected $500 bill.
Regarding the new range of plans, Woolworths Head of Telco, Jason Hair, said
Following the success of the initial launch of our mobile plans, we are proud to offer customers an extended range of Samsung devices with simple plans and strong data inclusions. Our customers will now have access to 4G, which is available across all of our Mobile plans.
We’re all about giving our customers more. So whether it’s the quality of the network or simply great value packages, our customers can be confident their mobile plan will be one of the most competitive on the market.
It’s good to see more competition in the mobile space as monthly inclusion continue to have rather low caps provided to users. However, these plans aren’t pushing any significant boundaries in price or allowances so we’re not looking to these to be the driving change towards an affordable unlimited data plan anytime soon.
