It seems like this one may have slipped under the radar. The Samsung Galaxy Mini, which in itself, is a nice little handset for the price. Building on the solid Galaxy name, the Mini, packs a 600MHz processor, 3MP camera, WiFi b/g/n, GPS, MicroSD upto 32GB, all running underneath Android 2.2. Priced at $179 locked to the Optus network, it’s not a bad buy.

will this work on the next g network unlocked?
It’s a quadband phone so it should work on the NextG network. That said, the specifications aren’t exactly terrific so you won’t necessarily benefit entirely from the extra speed.
That’s actually incorrect. It’s a quad band GSM/2G phone and only dual band 900/2100 3G. This means it will work fine on Optus and Vodafone and all its resellers on 3G and only work on the 3Telstra 3G 2100Mhz network which is shared with 3 till sometime in 2012 when this network will be shut down. Then it will only operate on Telstra’s 2G/Edge network from then on.
This phone will NOT work on Telstra 850Mhz 3G NextG network.
Cheers
Conflicting information then, as I’ve seen the Galaxy mini running on the 850Mhz band on numerous websites (including Samsung’s).
Not a bad looking phone. It’s good enough for anyone who wants a budget phone which is reliable and easy on the eye.

I though it looked ok for a second there too!
