Motorola have made their brand new tablets — the Motorola XOOM 2 and XOOM 2 Media Edition — official. The devices had been leaking around the internet for quite a while so it’s not as though these two devices have popped up out of no where. The new XOOMs look very much like scaled up version of the Motorola RAZR which is an interesting design choice — most likely to differentiate from the iPad to avoid any legal backlash.
The XOOM 2 features a 10.1-inch IPS display, whereas the XOOM 2 Media Edition packs a smaller 8.2-inch IPS display. Both have 1.2GHz Dual-Core processors along with 1GB of RAM, Android 3.2 and 16GB of internal storage. The XOOM 2 is 8.8mm thin and the Media Edition is 8.9mm thin — for comparisons sake the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is 8.6mm.
Both tablets are expected to launch later this month in the UK and although we’ve heard numerous rumours from sources here in Australia that it will launch by the end of the year, we’re yet to have any official word from Motorola.
When we have no opposition to the I pad (Size and weight wise) Why aren’t they in Australia?
Those cut-off corners are pretty sweet
I reckon 8″ is the real sweet spot size wise – I’ve got the 7″ tab and 10.1″ tab, and I use the former more because its size & weight is much more comfortable, but something just a little bigger with the same hd screen as the 10.1 would be absolutely spot-on.
I had been waiting for the 7.7 tab to appear, but this 8.2″ Xoom could definitely sway me if the price is right…
haha, let’s cut the corners off so we don’t get sued! nice work!
oooer, lookin very nice.
now I just need to decide if I get one of these or hold out for a Kindle Fire.
