Looks like Aldi is getting into the Android Tablet game, they`re set to sell the Medion P9514 from the 17th of December according to the catalogue they`re giving out in-store. The tablet was announced at the IFA trade show in Germany this year with a phone but it looks like only the tablet is set to make an appearance.

The Tablet comes with a 10″ capacitive multitouch display running at 1280 x 800, it`s powered by a dual-core 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor and runs Honeycomb 3.2. It also has a quad-band 3G radio and WiFi, front and rear facing cameras and 32Gb of memory on board which is expandable via MicroSD/MicroSDHC card. Not much more information is available on the tablet at this stage as it`s not on Aldi`s webpage as yet, but it`s being sold at $499 and is coming in time for christmas.

I`m not too sure how good a buy this is, as Medion as an Android tablet supplier is really an unknown quantity. It’s unknown if they’re going to supply any OS updates to Ice Cream Sandwich at this stage but I wouldn`t bet my life on it, so if you’re interested in this tablet go pick one up on the 17th of December.

Pretty high price point for Aldi. I was expecting a sub $400 tablet from Aldi. The inclusion of 3G does bump the price up though…

yeah my thoughts exactly – given the value of their recent 17″ laptop – this is too exxy!  $350 – $375 would be about right.

Interestingly saying that “Source(s): Aldi Catalogue”, when your catalogue image used is exactly the same as this one posted on OzBargain:

Hey Ian.  How is the performance.  I notice that the CPU used is not a common one and is probably single core. I’d like to hear from an actual owner about the performance before purchasing one.

Its quite good actually, with the 3.0 UI doesnt slow it down at all. And the price you pay is very cheap.  This does the job well and happy with it.
