Samsung have had an up and down year, but it appears they’re set to end on a massive high when they announced overnight that they’ve surpassed yet another massive sales milestone of 300 Million handsets sold in the 2011 calendar year.
This astounding success for 2011 has been driven by multiple successful handsets, the
- Galaxy S
- Galaxy S II which reached 10 Million units sold in record time for Samsung
- The Galaxy Nexus
and now
and the advertising they couldn’t have bought through their legal battles with Apple.
December 11, 2011 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, a leading mobile handset provider, today announced that it has this year achieved annual mobile handset sales of 300 million units for the first time in Samsung’s history.
“We are incredibly proud of this record-breaking sales milestone and have exceeded the annual target announced early this year, which is testament to the enduring appeal of Samsung phones with consumers around the world,” said JK Shin, President and Head of Samsung’s Mobile Communications Business. “Our performance in the mobile industry remains unrivalled. Samsung is the only manufacturer bringing such an exceptional choice of handsets to customers across a broad range of platforms including Android, Windows Phone and Samsung’s own bada platform — and on a truly global scale. We look forward to extending this success going into 2012.”
Congratulations to Samsung on their record breaking year.
Great stuff. If this sort of success translate to the tablet market, Apple will have a real fight on their hands.
Any idea what that market share is in Australia. Recent publicity must of helped create more brand awareness for the, for sure.
