Huawei has released 3 new Mobile Phones at Mobile World Congress in Spain, the Ascend D Quad, the D Quad XL which are powered by their own K3V2 quad core cpu and the D1 is powered by a dual core CPU. From what I can tell from the coverage coming from Spain is that the Ascend D Quad and D Quad XL seem to only be differentiated by the battery size 1800 vs 2500mAh

The Ascend D Quad specs :

  • Quad Core K3V2 1.5GHz CPU
  • 4.5″ 720P HD Display @ 330PPI
  • 8-megapixel BSI rear-facing camera and 1.3Mp front-facing camera
  • Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound
  • 8.9mm thick
  • 1800mAh Battery

The Ascend D1 will be available in Australia from April 2012 but no pricing for it is available at this time.

Not much more information is available regarding the D Quad XL except the battery size and the D1 has only been listed as having a Dual Core CPU, wether that means it will be a dual core version of the K3VT CPU remains to be seen, but Huawei are claiming the K3VT is the fastest CPU in the world.

The Ascend D Quad looks pretty decent but mention was made of the OS that will be shipping on it but from the look of the capacative buttons on it, it may very well be Gingerbread. Looking pretty good spec wise and I hope they retain their vanilla Android software as it allows them to be very agile in pushing updates for their phones out without having skins involved. What do you think, could this be your next phone?
