If you’ve been thinking of purchasing a Nexus 7 but been put off by the lack of larger storage capacity options, you may be in luck.
The Nexus 7 has no SD card for expanding storage capacity – you’re stuck with the amount of storage you purchase. With this in mind many have bought the largest model available (16 GB).
There’s been a background hum in the community since the device was announced that the device should be available in larger capacities, but Google and Asus have remained silent. This isn’t surprising – increasing the storage capacity would impact the device’s low price.
Last week we saw that Carphone Warehouse (a UK retailer) thinks a 32 GB Nexus 7 is on the way.
This week we’ve received news that a Japanese Twitter user, Oppese, purchased a 16 GB Nexus 7 only to find a device with 32 GB storage in the box. It is possible that the screenshots were faked, but this lines up with last week’s Carphone Warehouse leak.
We’ve reached out to Asus for comment, but have yet to receive a response.
I went with the 16gig version, and I must say I’m very happy. Though the idea of a 32 gig version is very apealing though.
yes please, but i’d prefer an 8gb with expandable memory – like my Iconia
